The annual Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition and Benefit, held in Lynnville, IA, originated in 2014 with the noble aim of combining a BBQ competition with fundraising to support a member of the community. Over the years, this event has seen remarkable growth in participant numbers, visitor attendance, and funds raised, with a cumulative donation exceeding $220,000 in the past decade.

The dedicated Smoke on the Water Board diligently works year-round to organize the event, which features a multitude of activities and entertainment spread across a vibrant two-day schedule. Each spring, the board selects a beneficiary from the local community, typically an individual or family facing financial strain due to medical challenges.
